CATHERINE HYDE

Featuring delightful depictions of hares, foxes, birds and pomegranates, all archetypal symbols that are so unique to her fascinating style, Hyde seeks to use them as vehicles to bind together the landscape both above and below the earth. With each jewel-like brush stroke Hyde images consistently refer to the cyclical nature of the seasons and to the timelessness of the universe.

In this exhibition Hyde pays particular reverence to the symbol of the pomegranate and it’s strong ties to the ideas of fertility and abundance and enhances this through paying particular attention to it’s rich colour and form.

Through her earthy palette, textured layers of paint, use of gold and copper leaf and her richly woven tapestry of symbolism, Hyde’s new exhibition truly celebrates the richness of the earth.
