Sir Anthony Caro was predominately a sculptor, whose work is characterised by the use of assembled ‘found’ industrial metal objects. Often the finished pieces are then painted in a bold flat colour.
A one-time assistant to the great British Sculptor Henry Moore, Caro is accredited with the significant innovation of removing sculpture from the plinth. By removing the work from the traditional plinth it allowed the viewer to interact with the works from all sides.
Leaf Pool is one of only two editioned works Caro produced over his long career.
